Mr. Mark's story of survival is shocking, remarkable, and unusually touching. He was liberated by American GIs when he was just 13 years old. His father acted as his "guardian angel" throughout this horrible experience, and amazingly, the pair emerged as the only father and son to survive the concentration camps on record.
Mr. Marks and the Hebrew Brotherhood are sponsoring a middle school Holocaust Essay Contest. Brookfield students will be participating. Now that they have come face-to-face with living history, they will be inspired to write moving essays on the topic, "Unsung Heroes of the Holocaust: 1939-1945."
Pictured is Mr. Mark's with the 8th Grade Class, Madame Stiehr, Dr. Jo, and Mr. Bogart. He will return later this year to do a follow-up presentation.
